CurfBoard test and experience?
Curfboards impress with their high quality workmanship and unique axle design. This is also supported by the reviews on Amazon. None of the surfskates sold there are rated with less than 4 stars.
Tight turns can be skated very smoothly. The small turn radius stands out very positively compared to many other surfskate boards.
Both beginners and advanced skiers will get their money’s worth with this board. Pumping and carving simply feel like a lot of fun on the board.
Curfboard Trucks: How good is the axle system?
There is currently nothing comparable to the Curfboard axle on the market. Once you’ve tried it, you’ll never want to ride another surfskate again. What characterizes the axle?
The patented Curfboard front axle without bushings or springs adapts to the weight and riding level. No tightening, maintenance or manual adjustment required.
At higher speeds, the axle becomes more stable and prevents wobbling at speed.
It gets even better:
Even in the tightest turns, wheelbites (wheels touching the board) are a thing of the past with the special surfskate truck.
Surfing on the asphalt?
Thanks to the special axle design, surf skating gives you a real feeling of freedom and control. The board is easy to pump and surf turns can be practiced very specifically.
Curfboard product line: Which surf skates are available?
Curfboard offers 4 different boards with different characteristics. All boards differ in their shape and size/length.
What unites all boards, however, is the same high-quality and innovative axle system.

The Leilani was created by a designer and surfer from Maui, Hawaii. After riding the board, she felt inspired and expressed the Hawaiian vibe and aloha spirit in the hand drawing printed on the bottom of the board. The shape and riding style are identical to the Classic 2.0.
CurfBoard WAVE
The performance surfskate in Curfboard’s collection. Shorter, wider and simply smooth. The Wave is ideal for tight, fast turns, sessions in the park and creative tricks. The wider board promises better control for carves and slides or even aerials. The shorter axle spacing allows you to make tighter turns.
CurfBoard FISH
The newest board in the Curfboard family. The FISH is a performance surf skate, just like the WAVE. The shape is based on the classic fish surfboards. And that’s the way to surfskate. Agile and smooth.
The slightly longer board and the center distance make it ideal for any size of rider. Feel good in the skate park as well as on the doorstep for that unforgettable surfing feeling.
The company: The story behind CurfBoards?
The first skateboard designs
Stephan discovered his passion for industrial design and began studying at the University of the Arts in Berlin. But far away from the mountains and the sea, he missed snowboarding and surfing. He decided to recreate this feeling with a skateboard and began experimenting with his first skateboard designs.
After graduating in the mid-90s, Stephan continued to experiment with various skateboard concepts. Although not everything was perfect, he was very pleased with one feature. The handling of these prototypes was like that of a snowboard or surfboard. A few more skateboard designs followed. Among other things, Stephan designed and produced the Streetcarver together with BMW.
The special technical feature of the Streetcarver was its progressive steering kinematics, which adapted to the rider’s weight. The rollers and axles tilted like on a motorcycle and thus enabled more dynamic handling.
When the Streetcarver was launched on the market in 2000, the response from the press was overwhelming. The product has received several awards and has been included in the permanent collections of museums around the world.
The beginning of Curfboard
In the fall of 2015, Stephan’s son Jonas found one of his father’s old prototypes in the garage. When he saw how interested his son was in the board, something was triggered in Stephan.
The old prototype was heavy and outdated, but the idea of a self-adjusting axle was still unique. The two began experimenting with the development of a new axle.
Over the winter, they continued to refine and improve the geometry. In the end, they were so convinced by the concept that they decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign.
In the run-up to the Kickstarter campaign, the company Curfboard was founded and Stephan applied for international patents for the new axle design. Then it was time to plan the campaign, shoot a film in Barcelona and generate enough followers via social media.
CurfBoard as crowdfunding and Kickstarter success
In September 2016, the crowdfunding campaign went online for 4 weeks and exceeded the funding target.
The Kickstarter funding made it possible to finance engineers and designers to make the axle not only functional, but also visually unique.
When the prototype of the axle was ready, Stephan applied for the ISPO Brand New Award 2017 and Curfboard was honored as a finalist and received a booth at the world’s largest sporting goods fair in Munich. The response from the audience was overwhelming.
After the trade fair, we immediately went into production. Stephan visited manufacturers, planned, modified, tested samples and finally, with some delays, supervised the first production.
On October 1, 2017, the first container full of boards arrived at the warehouse near Munich and the Kickstarter backers received their boards just one month late.
A lot has happened since then. Curfboard has made a name for itself in the surfskate world with its innovative technology. The team is growing, important partnerships have been formed and curfboards are being sent to surfskate fans all over the world.
